About Brian MacLean

Nearly 30 years of craft. Now bringing it to Phoenix.

Chapter 01 · The Beginning

Two brothers, one friend, summers with a brush.

I started painting houses at sixteen, alongside my twin brother Brad and our best friend Mark Wise. What began as a way to earn summer money became the foundation of a craft I never put down.

Brad and I went on to Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois together — studied business and computers, started a fraternity, pulled off more than we should have. Painting stayed with me the whole way through.

Chapter 02 · Diverging Paths

Flagstaff, Seattle, and figuring it out.

Three years into college, I transferred to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and changed my major to education. From Flagstaff I moved to Seattle and picked up painting work while I figured out what came next.

I eventually went back to Lewis University for my Master's in Education and taught for a couple of years. Brad went into business and entrepreneurship. I kept painting — through every chapter.

Chapter 03 · Building the Business

MacLean Brothers Painting, 2005.

I founded MacLean Brothers Painting in 2005. Over the years I refined the craft, built the systems and quality standards the business uses today, and grew it in North Carolina — where an all-five-star Google review record speaks to the work.

My specialty is interior and exterior painting, plus high-end cabinet refinishing that delivers a factory-quality finish. Painting is a craft, not just a service. The mission is simple: build lasting relationships through clear communication, dependable service, and results homeowners can trust.

Chapter 04 · Military Service

Army service, and the habit of showing up.

In 2011, I joined the Army. I served on active duty, and over the last fourteen years I've deployed multiple times as a Combat Medic. I continue to serve in the Army Reserves while running MacLean Brothers Painting — balancing military service with the business my brother and I started in 2005.

The discipline, time management, and integrity the Army shaped in me are the same qualities I bring to every job. A 0700 start means arriving at 0645. Nothing hides behind a line item. When something isn't right, we fix it.

Chapter 05 · Three Generations
“Good, better, best — never let it rest, until the good becomes better and the better becomes best.
— Papa Harry MacLean Sr.

Papa Harry MacLean Sr. and his brother — my great-uncle Roggy — were the original MacLean brothers in the painting trade. Papa Harry passed that work down to his son, Harry. Harry taught it to Brad and me. Three generations of MacLean hands have held the same brush standard. Now I'm the one carrying it forward in Phoenix.

Chapter 06 · Family

My wife Julie and I are building something to pass down.

Julie and I are raising our family together. MacLean Brothers is a family business in the literal sense — something I'm building to pass down to the next generation.

Faith and family are the foundation of how we approach our life and our work — quiet guides that shape the standards we hold ourselves to.

Chapter 07 · A New Chapter

From Chicagoland to Seattle to the Carolinas — next stop, Phoenix.

After nearly thirty years of painting, I'm bringing MacLean Brothers Painting to Phoenix, Arizona. I live in Anthem and personally service the entire Phoenix Valley.

Same standards. Same craft. Same family principle. New market.
